Very nice car |

I loved the scene with the crane. It was completely over the top and would have been impossible with a real car, but it was GREAT just the same! |

Without a doubt the best looking large luxury car in its class. The S8 version looks even hotter. But the Mercedes S-Class is a better car overall. ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-10-29 02:38:29 |

Whoa, some people actually LIKED that painful scene? It's one of the fakest and most stupid looking CGI "stunts" I've ever seen. -- Last edit: 2008-03-17 10:35:40 |

i agree. The A8 is a great car but the S-Class is much better although. |

That Car stays spotless the whole movie!!!!! ![]() |

The S8 isn't necessarily better. the W12 does have a 6.0 engine whereas the S8 only has a 5.2 V10. the S8 would've been better if Audi hadn't reduced its engine capacity to 444 bhp. The original engine that was placed in the Lamborghini produces 520 bhp. the W12 and the S8 both have a max capacity of 444 bhp plus they both do 0-100 in 5.1 seconds. I guess why they used the A8 instead of the S8 is because the A8 is used as a limousine in European countries whereas the S8 is more of a luxury sports car that people drive for their own personal pleasure. |

I'm still not convinced if this is a real W12, because it has standard rear exhausts, and not W12 trapezoidal ones . I addiction, the W12 front logo disappears a lot of times during the filming, and sometimes is even put in wrong position, so I suspect they simply used a (or maybe some) 4.2 V8 version with a W12 badge to promote this new engine. Or maybe a possible pre-production W12 model, with non-definitive mechanical parts? I must say, it's not definitely easy to identify these Transporter A8 "mixed" versions (remember that also in the following movie there is a strange A8 supposed to be a W12, but this time with some S8 features, and replaced by a non-facelifted version in stunt scenes) |

Now I'm almost convinced that this A8 is a 4.2 with a W12 logo, because, as well as of rear exhausts noticed in my comment above, you can also see the steering wheel design, which is the simple one (pre 2004 restyling) and not the "single-frame looking" one, standard feature of the W12. So this is a 4.2 quattro modified as 6.0 W12 ![]() |

I think its one of the best luxury cars |

I can answer these questions. The W12 is the logical choice, not the S8, for three main reasons. Firstly, in stock form it has the same power as the S8 V10, but more torque spread across a wider range, which is what you need to shift a heavy, armoured vehicle. One also presumes, this being Jason Statham, that he has added forced induction (ala RS6 or Conti GT) for extra power. The W12 bi-turbo in stock form is the heavyweight of the VAG range, and more tunable than the V10 lump. The S8 V10 is NOT, by the way, derived from the original Gallardo engine. They are very different engines and this is a common misconception. But the second, is simply that they did not make the S8 in a lwb chassis, and he does use it for transporting VIPs doesn't he. The last, and perhaps most compelling reason, is that (probably) the most advanced bullet-resistant real-world vehicle is the Audi A8L W12 Armoured, which costs around half a million pounds. Although they wouldn't have used one to film, surely this is what the movie is based on. Interestingly, it contains a number of innovative features, including explosive doors for emergency exit following a crash! It has landmine protection and glass that will withstand high velocity rifle fire as standard, yet looks very similar to a standard W12. Unless of course you wind down the inches-thick, steel-encased electric windows... No doubt about it, the S8 is a fantastic car, but the W12 is the daddy. |

This has nothing to do with the armored car, I doubt its even meant as one, since its obviously not like the real world bullet resistant vehicle at all, even 9 mils would have put dents in the windows after what 60 rounds, its obviously one of those fake movie bullet-proof cars not meant as a nod to real world VIP vehicles, I always wonder why no one mentions the apparent bullet-proofness in the movies. -- Last edit: 2012-12-28 15:07:55 |

Made for CN and EU by the license plate holder. And I suggest to set another page for the 2-stars CN-Spec one. This page is for the EU-Spec one clearly And this one is made for CN. -- Last edit: 2018-06-29 14:26:42 |

There is no really a 2-star one: all are supposed to be the same car in the movie. It often happens they use multiple vehicles, I don't think it needs a separate page for a so small difference. |
◊ 2018-07-01 10:32 |
Supposed to be but not the same actually. I thought when you create a page for a fake car, you set its own star rating... |
◊ 2018-07-01 17:14 |
Usually we create a page for a stunt car which is a completely different model (or at least a different generation of a same model), not just minor changes like here |
