It seems it was a very early introduction. According to this (Link to "auto.consumerguide.com"), the Caprice first came out in April '90 (which would make it possible for filming, even more so if Chevrolet lent the movie a pre-production model). |

No, for US cars the year is usually the next year, since cars are lunched in middle of a year. This style of Caprice is usually referenced as 1991. |

I just saw this scene a few nights ago. IT WAS THE COOLEST SHORTEST CHASE I EVER SAW. Especially when they bounce through that garage with both cars nearly going on two wheels. I wonder did 'Point Break' copy this idea. |
