It's the last name of the guy who founded the company. |

The car sounds like a muscle sports car. |

What's the top speed of the Pantera? |

Panteras has a Cleveland 351 engine. I remember reading several years ago (drooling already by then) a spec sheet which listed top speed at around 280km/h. Definitively the most successful product by DeTomaso (company) Other particular vehicles 'labeled' by Alejandro DeTomaso (italo-argentinian) were the Maserati Biturbo, the Innocenti Mini (the square one), the Benelli Sei and many Guzzis of the '70s and '80s like the the T3 California and California II, 850LeMans and 1000 SP, and the 'serie piccola' Tonti-designed and engineered Guzzis. He also left a mess in each company he owned ![]() |

Ironic that a guy driving a Pantera would make disparaging comments about domestic cars. |

The blow-up car is just a bad mock-up on a rolling chassis, apparently being towed by the police car. It might even just be a trailer. |
