G-MANN ◊ 2011-07-08 02:20	The plate looks like one of the fake California registrations that often crop up in films and TV (doesn't appear on the California Smog test site). It says Aug 91 in the closeup on it in the last thumbnail.

G-MANN ◊ 2011-07-11 22:56	I don't think it was mentioned this story is set in 1991, I just assumed it was present day and the character drive old cars because they aren't very well off (especially the Jennifer Connelly character), but now I think about it (and looking at the age of all the vehicles in this film) that may be the case. There's also a deleted scene where Behrani's son plays with a Super Nintendo. Behrani is a former Colonel in the Shah of Iran's regime who fled in the 1979 revolution, I can't remember if it's mentioned how long he's been living in America but it's probably closer to 10 years than 20 years. APS221 ◊ 2011-07-11 23:57	You also see the license plate is this style: It was issued from the end of 1987 to the beginning of 1993. It looks like all the cars have this style of prop license plate. Whoever was in charge of the prop license plates and vehicles did a good job. That style of license plate was replaced by these "Script" plates in 1993.
