120 cars built between 1964 and 1970. And I think you should write "Spider" with a "i" and not an "y". To be confirmed. |

We should decide for each make (or even model?) which one of Spyder and Spider has to be used, since it seems that it changes for each car. For example the current Maserati convertible is called "Maserati Spyder" on their site... |

The current convertible at Maserati is indeed called Spyder. But the spelling of that kind of denomination can vary through the years. Spyder with a "y" was mainly used by Ferrari with the 250 GT California in the late 50's/60's and by Porsche for its 550 (Porsche was the first one to use it). Spider with a "i" is/was used by other manufacturers using that terminology. The fact that Maserati is owned by Ferrari is maybe the explanation why the recent convertible received an "y" in its name. Or maybe it's an additional "argument" to sell more cars in the US. Should be investigated. -- Last edit: 2005-12-18 09:35:17 |

After verifications at Maserati, Mistral SpYder is the correct spelling for the cars from the 60's. So forget my first remark :-). It was anyway to be confirmed ;-) |
