why is it considered to be 280 and not 240 or 260? |

I believe the 240 had the backup light integral with the tail light assembly, the 260 and 280 had a separate backup light as in this one. The 280 may have had an amber upper tail light rather than all red? If I have not gone funny in the head this one might be a 260. I will admit that generally, I can't tell them them apart without reading the script on the car (except for the rust on the 240 ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-03-26 01:36:02 |

From what I know the 260Z was only offered in some markets (like N. America due to emission control power losses) in 1974 while it was offered a bit later in the rest of the world (through 1978). All models regardless of engine size sold outside N. America had amber rear indicators and the 260Z and later 280Z's had the reversing lights separate next to the number plate. The only way 'I' can tell the 1975 and later US version Z's apart from a distance is by the shape of the impact style bumpers. 1975-76 models had more rounded looking bumpers with 2 built-in rubber guards mounted near the middle of each bumper (see: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/689637 ) while 1977-78 models had slightly slimmer & much cleaner looking impact bumpers which where more straight across (see: http://aronsson.se/datsun/ ). On those, the rubber guards where built into the outer edges of the rear bumper as well. The one in Bruce Almighty is a 1975-76 model with later (1981-83) Datsun 280ZX non-turbo wheels. -- Last edit: 2013-07-12 00:39:10 (an_unusual_eye) |

One of the 280's from shooting, (the unwrecked, non keyed version) is for sale at volocars.com for $10,000. It underwent some heavy modifications for the movie, such as the stock manual transmission being replaced with an automatic and the inline-6 was replaced with a Chevy 350 crate motor. |

The 240 was also never offered as a 2+2 model, which the one in Bruce Almighty is. ![]() |

its an early (75-76) 280z 2+2 with 82-83 280ZX (non-turbo) wheels in the US market the 240z went from 70-73 the 260z was only offered in 74 (in coupe and 2+2 models) and the 280z went from 75-78 (in coupe and 2+2 models) , then it went to the 79-83 280zx ect. -- Last edit: 2009-09-06 11:00:12 |

How many Datsuns were used in the movie? |
◊ 2013-07-07 01:37 |
yeah...Nissan Z Cars. (Not to be confused with Chevrolet Z Cars being the Z Camaro's; Z28 & ZL1, Corvette ZR1 & ZO6, Cavalier Z24, Beretta Z26, Lumina Z34, Silverado Z71). Nissan/Datsun Z cars are 240Z, Fairlady 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX, 350Z & 370Z (& if I'm missing a Z car, Chevy, Datsun, OR Nissan, please, let me know...) |
