I like how the engine is knocks despite the fact that the car is only a few years old in the scene. |

Many 70's cars had the knock knocks when they were brand new, it was caused by all the emissions equipment and engine tuning to make engines meet emissions standards, not MPG or performance. |

It's not knocking, it's "run on" or "dieseling," where the engine contiunes for a few cycles after the ignition has been shut off. Carbureted engines were bad for this during the emission era and some infact had an "Anti-dieseling" solenoid. This sound is heard very often in hollywood movies, and I tend to believe its a commonly added sound effect, as are most engine noises in hollywood. |

I was just about to ask about the knocking noise heard when he shuts the car off, thanks for answering the question years before I thought of it. I love this site! |

I really like this car in the movie, suits Pesci well for this scene. When I was a kid I thought it was a badge-engineered Cadillac version for some reason. |
