It looks to me a USA specifications car. |

As it is a four star car, would it be possible to get more pictures? At the moment I can see it has a raised hood/bonnet, sealed beam headlights, darkish brown paint, shiny outside rear view mirror and an early bumper. That might suggest an European spec. early 260, many versions of U.S./Canada spec. or anything rebuilt. |

here are some other shots ![]() ![]() This car was also seen in some later scenes, but it was barely visible because it was night. -- Last edit: 2023-07-15 11:14:29 |

Thank you! If so it's a U.S./Canada spec 1979 Volvo 244 DL. No other models possible. The paint was introduced for MY 1979 (colour code 138, Dorango Brown) https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/paint_color_reference_volvo . http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/VOLVO_1979.html One currently for sale https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/87258818 (albeit with wrong wheel covers). https://www.fijen.se/wordpress/page/2/ |

Perhaps I should add a bit about the differences between European and U.S./Canada spec cars. The MY 1979 European spec had black door mirrors (actually MYs 1978-79) while the U.S./Canada still had the chromed ones. They got the same ones from MY 1980. The U.S./Canada spec Volvos lost the digits 240 and 260 from MY 1980 but they still had it in MY 1979. The headlights differ as the glass ones fitted on European models were considered too unsafe. Hence U.S./Canada ones has plastic "sealed beams". They look completely different. According to U.S./Canadian law cars while stationary on a trafficated road had to have an amber light lit in a forward direction while European cars weren't allowed to have any other colours than white/yellow. Both countries recognized amber as turning light. This is for sure a 1979 Volvo 244 DL, U.S./Canada spec. |
