Actually, it is a Jaguar XK8 Convertible, not a XKR.

The Jaguar used a lot by Terry Glass (and driven by LeeLee Sobieski's character, too) and driven aggressively during the film, in the end was destroyed.

Please change this, as the car is a 1997-1999 model, not 1996. 1997 model was the first in all nation regardless of registration. It went on sale late in 1996.

Wouldn't there be a warning light on the dash if the brakes were cut??

Yes. The handbrake light would be on.

Some additional details can be seen in this shot, e.g. the 17" revolver wheels.

Here's my attempt to narrow the model year further down: The car is neither a 97MY (note single-letter Jaguar badging beneath left rear light instead of the more playful one-piece early style), nor a late US '98 (no Growler badge on top of the boot lid).
