Any evidence that this is a Baby Hindustan? All references to early cars that I can find show that they were only made as 4-door saloons and started out in the S2 guise. |

Agree lack of references for 2-door and/or lowlight Hindustans. As far as I can make out Hindustan Minor builds started 52/53, but things are unclear about what happened earlier; Morris made serious efforts to produce CKD export Minor kits from 1950 for wherever would take them - presumably targeting Commonwealth countries as easy hits - and I've a book ref that there were 4 different initial Minor assemblers in India before things settled down. So while Hindustan may not be accurate for this one, Indian build is still on the table as a possibility/probability. Unclear if it's a very early split bumper with joining plate. |

Here's one possibility, Addisons in Madras (now Chennai): Link to "en.wikipedia.org" |

Earliest mention of Baby Hindustan in sales literature dates from c. 1955: Link to "www.team-bhp.com" Link to "www.team-bhp.com" So it's entirely possible that Addison's assembled Minors first, and then Hindustan took over the operation soon after and rechristened them. |

Correcting myself, here's a brochure showing the pre-1955 grille and also having Baby Hindustan written on the bonnet. Comments in that thread suggest that Baby Hindustan was in production 1953-58. |
