I thought about buying one, but I didn't think it would be possible to find one.

I've been in a Ford Scorpio taxi which had the 2.0 L petrol engine , yes confortable car but why is it a big fuzz about it ? :??: after all it was just a bigger (for european standards) lower budget RWD sedan

It's the Merkur version that counts.

Also, Lateef likes Scorpios, from what I've heard.

It's just a Mk3 Granada to us Brits, nowt special and never loved like its predecessors were.

Now, I've never understood the fuss about the MGB either, for the simple reason: we all have different taste in cars.

That's right. Sometimes a particular experience can meke you love a car without knowing why-

I liked my MGBGT, it was pleasant to drive, cheap to run, and you could get the spares easily. Mechanical work was no problem, but the downside was typical for cars of that period...bodyrot. As a direct comparison with the Ford Capri, I had a 1969 And a 1973, the MG was more fun.

I agree with Sad Biker about the Mk3 Grandad, just automotive chaff, haven't seen one in years, and the Scorpio with that silly grille...

While common(-ish) on your side of the pond, here they were strange and different. So think of it as a cult-car for us. Similar to the Rover SD1.

both Merkur were/are oddities here , probably contributing to the buzz around them

Mammy, make the ugly go away....

To be scrapped at the earliest opportunity so the 24V Cossie lump can be liberated into something more deserving, wish they'd been around when I had my XR4i. ;)

The only thing that's ugly is the word itself.
