![]() Directed by William Castle between his Whistler serial and his future cheap horror flicks. Written by Frederick Brady and Frederick Kohner. With Richard Conte, Julie Adams (Sally Rousseau), Richard Egan (the police lieutenant with a permanent rictus), Henry Hull (not bad as Vincent St. Clair), Fred Clark and Jim Backus (as Mitch Davis, agent and narrator). And many cameos as you'll read here, among which Joel McCrea's. Set in Hollywood studios, sort of a murder mystery posing as film noir (mainly through some baroque sets, lights and camera angles). Nice whodunnit actually, a murder committed in Hollywood studios in 1929 finding its solution in 1950 Hollywood studios. Many faux coupables for a bit more than one hour long, and many twists in the end. Not great. Entertaining enough.
