Taken from We Live in Two Worlds 2-DVD set and second volume (of 3) of shorts from The GPO Film Unit, covering the period 1936-1938. 15-minute description of a year in the life of Britain - a bit of a mad dash through lots of different sequences and events - all linked by the Post Office's various new communications and cables projects. Mixes new in-house footage with bits brought in from elsewhere (which are obvious because quality is not as good). A bit incoherent at times, but worth watching, although can't find an online copy. See http://www.screenonline.org.uk/film/id/1356037/index.html for info. Rejects Truck in left edge. They're apparently laying the first co-axial cable to open up the television network from London to Manchester Isle Of Man TT - unintentionally funny sequence for 1st picture as camera pans round to catch the bike going round the curve, but misses it completely until it'd nearly gone Slow panning shot across the car park for the Derby at Epsom. Looks like lots of goodies, but too distant to really pick out definite stuff. Blurry little cars The Preslands of Walthamstow removals truck beyond Interesting things in football crowd. Taxi(?) on right is YY 3582 = late 1932 Car spoiled by overlain footage Bus and taxi Pedal car. I guess LB plate = Lines Brothers, so Triang. Later owners of Spot-On, Dinky, Meccano, Hornby, Sindy etc |

Possible Taxi 'YY 3582' looks like an Austin 12/4 High Lot but only known registrations are YY4141 to YY4170 and YY6961 to YY7000. It looks so convincing I suspect some numbers are missing from the Mann & Overton list. |

The Preslands of Walthamstow removals truck looks to be a 1934 Bedford WTL 3-Ton. |
