Quote Vigo died at 29 after making only 4 films. "À Propos de Nice" was his first film. Truffaut says in his essay about Vigo: "Just as they say a man becomes fully formed between the ages of 7 and 12, it can be claimed that the first 150 feet a director shoots show the course of his entire career. His first work is himself, and everything he makes thereafter will be himself (...) All of Welles is embodied in the first reel of "Citizen Kane", all of Buñuel is in "Un Chien Andalou", all of Godard is in "Un Femme Coquette"; And all of Jean Vigo is in "A Propos de Nice".


I see Vigo's L'Atalante isn't here, but I don't remember if there were cars in that. (sixcyl?)
