The March... this 1990 film from the BBC is set on a unspecified year in the then-future (but very 1990s), follows an homonymous march composed of Sudanese "climate refugees" led by an muslin man called Isa El-Mahdi (Malick Bowens) that decides to cross Northern Africa to reach Gibraltar and go to Europe with a message directed to the europeans: "We are poor because you are rich" and "Watch us die". Clare Fitzgerald (Juliet Stevenson), an Irish European Community Development Commissioner, closely follows El-Mahdi’s march—alongside American candidate Marcus Brown (Joseph Mydell)—as they are making their way toward the continent, while tensions regarding migrants rise between governments and the public.

I hadn't planned on posting contributions regarding this film anytime soon, but the migration crisis in Ceuta made me reconsider that decision.

(German poster from the film)

Oddly enough and a fun fact is that CNN features prominently in the film through television broadcasts (despite being a BBC film), alongside ZDF (which covers and brings footage from El-Mahdi's March) and TVE.

No location information on the IMDB, but checking crew members' profiles shows that it was filmed partly in Morocco.

This Land-Rover is a Santana because the rear door does not extend into the roof.

An Aer Lingus plane (possibly an Airbus? If anyone knows about planes, let me know).

A very blurry plane—British Airways, perhaps?

An SA Gazelle appears being piloted by a ZDF news crew, and later, this same helicopter is used to transport Marcus Brown to the Kasbah of Tangier.

This helicopter appears bringing in candidate Marcus Brown; it reappears near the end of the film, used by the CEF (a European Community military force established shortly after El-Mahdi and his march crossed Morocco).
