As pets: nowadays people in China are very angry, when seeing others having dog meat. Sometimes they'll fight those persons eating dog meat.

 That would also make a good Hong Kong movie - two guys try to save as many dogs as they can from being eaten by smuggling them from Mainland China into Hong Kong. But the evil Big Boss, chief cook of a large restaurant in the Mainland, doesn't like this and a bitter battle for the lives and deaths of dogs begins...

In old days of China, Citroen was sold as well as Volkswagen: Citroen ZX, VW Jetta and VW Santana were the "Big Three" in China market.
However, really very few XM were sold in China.
