I am looking for a point of contact to find if any of the original cars from Death Race 2000 are still around, sitting in someone's garage somewhere. I would like to get in touch with them, a private message with any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

At least one of them, I think the referred to above as the Cimbria, apeared in one scene of Earth Girls Are Easy so it must have still been arounde in the mid to late 1980s.

Just saw this posting list, so a bit late in adding. Frankenstein's dragon car does still exist. It's in the My Garage museum at Mid-America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois, owned by Mike Yeager. They specialize in Corvette parts and restoration and VW parts and restoration, and have an extensive collection of specialty Corvettes and VWs. This particular car, actually, isn't a true Corvette. It's a downsized movie car built to look like a morphed vette. More the size of a VW dune buggy than a Corvette. The engine that's visible in the back is a dummy. The car is powered by a Corvair flat-six that sits down below the fake engine. Still a VERY cool car. Considering Roger Corman's tight budget for doing movies, I'd imagine there weren't multiple examples made of the cars like the Dukes of Hazzard did. When the others were blown up and destroyed, that was probably it. This one looks just like it did in the last scene of the movie. BTW, this car is sitting right next to the Corvette Summer car star, which IS a real Corvette.

To : author " nothing " You are looking for the original cars, from the movie. I'm curious as to why,as I own the car, built to do the crash scene, for the Frankenstein feature car, { because the corvette, wouldn't have done that job, very well } I was told, there were originaly 2 built, but, haven't been able to confirm that,or,the wearabouts of the other car. This is the real deal-its a corvair pan, with a tubular steel superstructure, and hand laid sheet metal,to create the body.I do have,a bit of the history,of the car, being purchased sonmewhere,at an auction,{ I believed in Florida,} and brought to Massachusetts, where its currently titled, and has been driven. You can contact me,at email... maxx5502189@yahoo.com

To author "sticher guy " Congradulations, sir,on a job well done ! I just read your paragraph, about the alleged history,of the original Frankenstein feature car,in the Roger Corman filming,of the original death race,2000.I'm curious, where you got your info,as its more accurate information, than I've read at any site,in years - Corman, was on a budget, and, your right, the Frankenstein car,was a dwarfed corvette, and its not a corvette,at all. You see, I currently own that car- its never been publicly shown, anywhere, since its use,in the movie, and i've owned it,since 1995. -its said, there were originally 2 built,{ but, I dont have facts about that },with a tubular superstructure, with corvair tailights, and from 30 feet,it is a Corvette look-alike.It is in fact,a 1965 Chevrolet Corvair pan,{flat 6 cyl.engine, with an automatic transmission} hand laid sheetmetal,{ one front fender,is about 9 pieces,of sheetmetal, all laid into the shape,of the fender} and welded against a steel tubular superstructure, all shaped out, like a corvette skeleton, and, its said, this was built,to do the crash scenes, strong enough,to protect the driver. No one would ever build, this car today-way too costly,in labor time. Its all hand built, and the metal work,is truly noteworthy,as its fairly good quality work .Just wanted you to know, you've got an amazing amount of info, right on the money . I have pics, and am actually going to take some more, soon. It is one wild car,to look at - maxx5502189@yahoo.com

for the ones who like this movie, they should stick with the DVD !!!!!

Blu-Ray has a fake widescrean , so they just took a Fullscrean TV print and added black bars

here what I mean

notice top and bottom are missing without having extra on the side

The film was probably shot full-frame and soft-matted in theaters, which would mean that the "TV print" shows the full original frame. Cropping the top and bottom would be the only way to obtain an widescreen version.

A vehicle on this Russian page looks very similar to the bull and machine gun cars. The author isn't sure of the make, but the nose cone is odd-looking. This was back in 2020 and it was allegedly for sale in Ontario Canada. Would anyone know any more information on this?
