Not sure if this show would qualify but I have watched it before and a lot of the prizes involve brand new cars which are shown in great detail. If game shows aren't allowed, than this can be deleted but figured I ask before I start submitting. |

I'm no admin but I'd be fine with it. First episode of the "new format", September 4th 1972, includes a brand-new Chevrolet Vega Kammback Wagon and Mazda 808 sedan being won. ![]() ![]() |
◊ 2019-05-18 13:13 |
Neat. If it's approved feel free to submit those two. |
◊ 2019-05-18 13:23 |
I'm actually for this for two reasons: we get ACTUAL brand new cars to use as IDs. 1. For instance nowadays it is hard to find a ford econoline 100 with the original factory layout. I'm an admin but it isn't up to me. 2. There is maybe 1or 2 cars an episode? And multiple new cars of the same make and model can be grouped together if in the same season. I'd only do it for the brand new cars so at least we have a show to reference cars that we know to be brand new. Just my opinion. -- Last edit: 2019-05-18 13:27:17 |

Here's a recent example I found from a 2019 episode a few weeks ago that featured three new cars. A brand new Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Sentra "S" Model, plus a Toyota Yaris "L" (Season 47, episode 152)![]() ![]() ![]() There's a channel I found on YouTube that is uploading new episodes daily in HD so that would be my best source for newer vehicles. -- Last edit: 2019-05-18 13:47:17 |

Submitting the latest episodes of 2019 (if this gets approved). We don't even have a Toyota CH-R listed on the site yet so it would be a first as well as another Nissan Kicks. Also found some 1970s-2000s episodes that may be of usage. So it looks like for each year, they tend to re-use the same cars in some episodes, but all of them are brand-new. -- Last edit: 2019-05-18 17:01:25 |

I'm afraid we don't do game shows. Maybe the forum instead? |
◊ 2019-05-18 17:32 |
That's disappointing but probably not. The forums don't get a lot of traction compared to the site -- Last edit: 2019-05-18 17:33:22 |

I love to see the prizes from this era. Let's Make a Deal always seemed to have interesting cars. |
◊ 2019-05-18 21:40 |
I could just post them here in the comments if you guys are interested? Plenty of 1970s-90s episodes to be found, unless of course if you guys really want, perhaps i can create a foeum post dedicated to them all (which would be useful for reference purposes as dhill suggested) -- Last edit: 2019-05-18 21:53:51 |

I’d be fine with it as well, but I think she might object. Anyway my blood pressure tablets don’t allow that sort of thing. |
◊ 2019-05-19 15:54 |
Neat. I tried the forum post but I had trouble uploading them. It's much easier to do it here in the comments section. |

they gave a used Caravan in 2001 ? |
◊ 2019-05-19 20:44 |
The Caravan was brand new. Well, every car on they present on the show is brand new but some of the later episodes show off the next-year models as prizes. Well, I see what you mean. The episode in question aired in December 2000 so that's probably one of the last 2000 models produced. Let me fix that. -- Last edit: 2019-05-19 20:45:50 |
◊ 2019-05-19 20:45 |
yeah, but Caravan shouldn't be the previous gen if the episode aired in 2001 maybe there was a mixed up in the episode's date makes sense, maybe an unsold one that the dealer wanted to get rid of.. -- Last edit: 2019-05-19 20:47:15 |
◊ 2019-05-19 20:46 |
Episode date was Dec 15-16 2000 (I put it in the wrong place >_>). So far, the most interesting vehicles I've found are in 1997 that showcase the last Ford Aerostar and probably one of the last Geo Metro's produced before they became Chevrolet's. -- Last edit: 2019-05-19 20:48:22 |
◊ 2019-05-19 20:54 |
Highly likely. I noticed most of the cars given away meet the following criteria: 1. They have the lowest trim level available or no trim at all 2. Are often the popular vehicles from that era or ones that want to be (like the Eagle Summit DL showed off in a 1989 episode) 3. Consist mainly of smaller vehicles and some trucks. I've found little SUV's or Vans yet but it depends on the era. Right now I'm plowing through the 1990s |
◊ 2019-05-19 21:00 |
The UK version from the 1990s always gave away budget-brand cars (Suzukis, Hyundais, SEATs etc). Later on they even started giving away kit cars (like MR2 based Ferrari replicas). |
◊ 2019-05-19 21:01 |
Kit cars? Huh, I wonder what made them change to that... |
◊ 2019-05-19 21:25 |
Probably because they thought a fake Ferrari or fake Cobra is more impressive a prize than a Hyundai Elantra ![]() I've looked at a few episodes on YouTube now and it's not as bad as I thought, there were a few mainstream brand cars (saw a VW Polo and a Civic) but there was also this: ![]() A 500cc diesel engine is not really a feature to shout about, I'd have preferred the VCR: ![]() |

◊ 2019-05-19 21:50 |
It's something a bit obscure, one of these: /vehicles.php?make=Microcar&model=Virgo&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on Probably a bit unfortunate for the guy it wasn't a Ford Ka or small Suzuki of similar value. There were more expensive cars in the finals, here's a Westfield kit car from a 1999 episode: ![]() But more typically it would be something like these two: ![]() ![]() |
◊ 2019-05-19 21:58 |
I've never heard of the Microcar Virgo. I feel sorry for whoever won it. I wouldn't mind the wagon to be honest but the kit car? I'll pass. |
◊ 2019-05-19 22:39 |
not fair for the 2004 Sebring, no girls but Vibe & Wrangler has two.. i'd take the VCR over the microcar.. but if old enough the microcar could be exposed in auto shows.. why all the cars have a Bruce1 front plate ? sponsored by Bruce Wayne ? ![]() -- Last edit: 2019-05-19 22:39:58 |

In the UK, it was called Bruce's Price is Right after the host: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Forsyth who fronted a number of gameshows. Basically my childhood Saturday nights were spent watching Bruce Forsyth host gameshows. ![]() In other news, I've found the best* prize yet: ![]() He won it but missed out on this, which seemed expensive by the standards of the usual early round prizes, earlier on: ![]() I suppose no one on earth could be lucky enough to own both a fake Prowler and a Kia Clarus (has a more anonymous car ever been made?). |

Meanwhile, in one of the former Soviet Union countries (circa 1994-95), one of the prize cars that you could have won was the immaculate Romanian-built Oltcit Club (a.k.a 'Citroën Axel' to the western world):![]() It really stood out among all the Zhiguli's and Moskvitches out there (which ruled the roads as far as mid 1990s) That being said, I never even saw one on the road back in the (late) 1990s with my own eyes EVER... -- Last edit: 2019-05-20 00:14:35 |

You kids! I remember spending half a crown on entering a competition in one of the first teenage type comics, called, I think, Top Spot, to try to win an NSU Prima scooter. I must have been about nine at the time, anyway I've lasted longer than the comic did! (Half a crown equals 1/8 of £1 or 12.5 pence, and was a week’s pocket money.) |

@Terra: The admins have discussed this and we think it's best that this goes on the forum in the cars and movies section (if you want the existing forum thread can just be moved there), as there is scope for an absolutely massive number of vehicles to be added here. We also think it would be best if any additional pics be posted on an external image host too, rather than the one for adding in-site thumbnails. This page can stay (as a blank) with a link to the forum thread. Thanks. -- Last edit: 2019-05-22 20:55:18 |
