@alex5: I had to reject two backgrounds (Ford F-Series, Renault 12) as it seems that you cropped the original screenshots and added yellow borders on the edges for some reason.

No, it's the 70's format of the movie, it's on YouTube, the image looks like this and the end credits roll

and a rambler ambassador, I don't know if it is the same one that appears next to the blue fiat but with a red light added to the roof

There are also these cars in a model, they are toys manufactured in the 70s by a brand called Gorgo, they have a similarity to the Chevrolet Corvair, sedan, wagon and also pick up, photos of some models online

It has nothing to do with how they made movies back then. That's actually the result of a practice that I personally hate from certain film restorations. They'll crop the whole film from its original format to fill the screen... but when comes the time for the credits, they uncrop the whole thing back to its original format. Personally, whenever I see something like that, it always makes me feel like my viewing experience was missing something.

If they're gonna do that, why don't they just NOT crop the movie at all? (And if they must do it, then why put YELLOW borders? That's the ugliest thing.)

ETA: Unless that's actually a thing projectionists did in theaters? Zoom out when the end credits began? If that's how it was, then I kinda get it... but it's not something that translates well to digital transfers. (And even then, movie screens were not bright yellow.)
