 So the VW is maybe not a "Cabriolet made for US" but just a Golf Convertible? (or what was its name in NZ ?)

I suppose that the Sam Raimi's Oldsmobile is not there because he was not involved in the movie either? (except as executive producer)
They could include the car anyway just for the reference :) (there is an Oldsmobile, but a newer one)

 There was a Delta in Ash vs Evil Dead, also filmed in New Zealand.

Perhaps that car is back in the USA and they decided that shipping one to New Zealand just for a gag was not worthwhile.
