What is a 325e? There are a couple on this site?

325e and 525e were designed mainly for the US-market. That motor was layouted for lower r.p.m. and therefore more economical.

First of all, the car in this photo appears to be a 325. I don't see an e or an i. So it's a `86-`87 325. Second, regarding the discussion between garco and tonz, the 325, 325e and 325es were in fact designed for the US market, which used the eta 2.7 liter engine. The same was for the 528e. Tonz, there was no 525e imported to the US.

Sorry, didn't know it was named 528e in the States.

In another shot I can see 325i.

No problem Tonz. The US version, 2.7 liter eta came out in `82 as the 528e, and stopped in `88. Garco, if you can honestly, clearly see 325i, than yes, it is possible. The E30 325i came out in `87 in the US. And since it has the old (nicer style lights) it's an `87 (in `88 the newer, less attractive lights were installed). Also, since the car appears ot be a 4-door, it can indeed, be a 325i - if it was a 2-door it would have to be a 325is in this year. On my monitor, I can't clearly see it say 325i. Nor can I clearly see if the car has dual tail-pipes - if it does it would definelty be a 325i - single exhaust tip US E30's `84-`87 were: 318i, 325, 325e, and 325es. (and yes, the 528e had a single exhaust tip - except for late `87 and `88 models, which had dual).

Well, I think I saw it. But it seems you know a lot more than me, so maybe I saw an i for an e.
I trust on your knowledge. So what will it be, 325, 325 i, or 325e?

It's fine as it is: `87 325i - since this car was a 4-door, and was around in `87. If you saw 325i, in another shot, leave it. I can't see an i or e clearly nor can I see the exhaust to tell.

As it's a 1986 it's not a 325i then, as Adrian said that it came out in '87 in the USA...

325 only then?
