Il faudrait changer le "Series" , par "Série" pour cette marque ;)

Truly nice looking car. As a child, I used to have a yellow Majorette Bagheera.

While I was in high school (late 70's), I used to pass one parked up along the way and always thought the three seat configuration a strange ..but fun idea.! :)

BeanBandit wrote I used to have a yellow Majorette Bagheera.

Mine was orange, later repainted :D
I should try to find one, as mine is not in so good state.
Ixo/Altaya released nice models recently (but at 1/43th scale)

I've personnally always prefered the Serie 2 than the Serie 1. ...though, it had always been only a poor "boosted Simca 1000" in my heart :D
By the way, it's quite a rare car nowadays, even in France ;)

Everybody thought it couldn't rust, because of the plastic body. But underneath the (invisible) steel structure wasn't of the best quality... :/

In Germany its reputation was collapsing, when the public has known the story about a very pissed Bagheera-owner. It was in 1974/75. The car had a plenty of defects and Matra Germany had acted very unprofessionell. So the owner has put his Bagheera in the center of West Berlin, right on the Kurfürstendamm, and he has decorated it with points on every defect part and he has copied his paper-war with Matra Germany. It was published in several newspapers and the TV. It was a total disaster for Matra. After that they couldn't sell the Bagheera any more, except a few dozens.

A Bagheera also got in 1975 the "Silberne Zitrone" (silver lemon) of the ADAC. For some years in the 70ies it was a prize for the unhappiest car-owner, whose car had the most defects and who had the most problems with the car-conpany. The last "Silberne Zitrone" was given in 1978 to the owner of a Ford Granada MK II. In 1974 or 1976 the winner was a Triumph Spitfire.

I haven't understand, why this was stopped. It was a good idea to kick the car-produceres to have a look on the quality.

P.S. Sometimes these things happens again. @sixcyl: have you heard about the pissed Mercedes C-Klasse-owner, who had put his defect Benz on the parking of the biggest shopping center in Lille, also with these remarks about the quality and the problems with Mercedes France? It has happen 2 or 3 years ago, as I've heard from a K 70-friend from there.

No I hadn't heard of this story. But I remember another action similar with a Matra Rancho owner, a woman, in the late 70's, her complaint on many defects in her car went round magazines and newspapers.

Nowaday, Internet, can be a very proper media for the consumers versus producers or dealers. 3 years ago, when I was looking for a new car, I had read a story of Saab owner , who had had so many problems with his Saab 95 Estate 3.0L Diesel (Isuzu V6 engine) so that he had openned a blog about it. ... This 3.0L Saab has vanished from the range in 2005.

Oh, interesting, how many manufacturers had made Bagheera-models. The most of them were never available in Germany. My Majorette-Bagheera is left over from my childhood (as nearly all of my toys).
