There is just nothing like a Cadillac. It's been forever since I've seen this movie, I think I'll go watch it. |

At least one sequence of this movie was filmed in Pelzer, South Carolina. The scene at the diner where the characters eat and later get sick from. During the filming, there were three 1954 Cadillac convertibles used to portray the main "star car". There was a fourth Cadillac body (from the firewall back) which was mounted on a trailer to simulate driving shots. Many local people brought their classic cars out to be used as background traffic. The highway (State Highway 29) was closed down for periods of time during which only the movie cars were allowed. At least one shot was ruined when a modern import pickup truck drove by in the background. The gas station near the restaurant was turned into an old ESSO station. During preparation, people pulled in to the station wanting to buy gasoline at mid-60's prices. This gas station was torn down some time around 1992-1994, and replaced by a modern convenience store gas station. The exact location was the intersection of State Highway 29 and Route 8, Pelzer South Carolina. -- Last edit: 2010-08-19 22:21:17 |
