Chaparral

Chaparral (Industries)
Started as a prototype in 1966, production began in the summer of 1967 for the 1968 model year.
The company was then sold to FTS/HITCO, a division of Armco Steel. From 1970 through 1974, more than 65,000 Chaparral snowmobiles were built and sold, but it was not enough to show a profit. Lack of snow in the snow belt, the energy crisis and the lack of dealer confidence led Armco, on Feb. 11, 1974, to discontinue snowmobile production.
