1956 only fender emblem Task-Force medium by wheels + bumpers, although we can't see the grille it is not heavy duty it should be in the upper range of medium duty by its use as a tanker |

Chevrolet Task-Force indeed, but it's more likely a 1957 only oval fender emblem, all the more as this truck has the 1957 only "spears" on the hood ![]() For the record, andrepa, medium-duty and heavy-duty models can't be differentiate thanks to their wheel rims, as they can be the same: ![]() ![]() The Dayton-type wheel rims (or whatever you call them) are indeed often mounted on heavy-duty trucks, but it appears to be an option, and more a matter of choice than anything else... → medium-duty 1½-ton 4000-Series / 2-ton 6000-Series or heavy-duty 2½-ton 8000-Series / 10000-Series |

thank you eLMer, will watch out for oval emblem on fender + "speers" on hood next time ![]() the choice of payload for a tanker further will depend on wether it is used with or without a trailer, n’est-ce pas ? Daytona-type wheels indeed very similar to german Trilex wheels. The difference is they have additional three piece rims responsible for beeing unbreakable but more prone to vibrations and making it easier to change tyres, surely they are more expensive than simple rims. |

It just depends on the tank capacity. No need to drive a heavy-duty truck to carry a 1000 l / 265 (US) gallons tank, even if on a trailer ![]() Dayton and Budd are brand names, in fact, apparently used as common names. Could it be the same for Trilex? This may explain small differences between the Dayton-type wheels and the Trilex-type ones... |
