the Autobahn was merged into the landscape even widening the standart space between lanes to leave this solitair tree standing! |

Are some left nowadays? Somewhere at http://www.geschichtsspuren.de/ I've read something about it. And I remember one large tree between two Autobahn-lanes at the A1, nearby the Autobahnraststätte Stillhorn. But this was 20 years ago. Actually the most relicts from 1930ies/1940 on German Autobahnen are gone now. Up to the mid-90ies there were quite a lot, but the very most were destroyed due the intensive expansion and renovation after The Wall fell down and all directions to Eastern Europe became open. I remember a plenty of cobblestone-exits, rest areas and even resthouses only on the A2 and A7. |
