Sales in Australia began in December, 2014. Are Australian-market Teslas built in the US or in the Netherlands? |

Good question. I would have said the Netherlands, because RHD cars are already assembled there for the UK, but it seems that cars sold in European countries are built in Fremont, disassembled for shipping and reassembled in Tilburg. If so, cars for Australia are probably shipped fully built up from Fremont. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S#Europe |

VIN 5YJSB7S13EFP58442 indicates USA. It would be cheaper to import them from the USA rather than Europe, due to lower shipping costs and the free-trade agreement with the USA (which results in no import duty, compared with 5% import duty on European sourced vehicles). -- Last edit: 2016-02-19 18:06:43 |

2015 MY, built in Freemont by VIN. Confirmed by visible Autopilot forward radar on spoiler crate (2015+ feature). |
