As usual, mix a few (really) old rusty cars and scooters, some dusty roads and parts of cities looking like remote country villages, and you get the "foreign country" as imagined by the US and Canadian film makers  With what is depicted and given the context (1996 is in the midst of the 1991-2001 Yugoslav Wars), the scene is certainly supposed to take place in some Balkan country. So one may indeed hope to see here a Bulgarrenault .gif ":)") But it's "just" a North American Renault 10, as the movie was shot in Canada (someone add a French location in the IMDb, but it's really doubtful). If I'm not mistaken, these models were not much different from the French ones, but the 1968+ models (fr) have some more options and North American specific stuff like the mandatory side markers... |
