At least a Corniche II due to revised reverse/foglights |

Strange that the lights are the wrong way round (foglights on top rather than the reversing lights). |

Could this be made for US? |

You can see the side-markers on the side so I think so. That's not correct. Those were fitted from Summer 1984 (seemingly for the 1985 model year - same time as the Bentley Continental came out). See this 1985 brochure showing these light units: And these for sale ads of 1985 models: Link to "www.bramley.com" http://www.beverlyhillscarclub.com/1985-rolls-royce-corniche--c-844.htm Link to "www.hemmings.com" The body coloured bumpers and mirrors are also not diagnostic of a Corniche II as they are commonly seen on these 1985 models (even the brochure one has body coloured mirrors and possibly even the bumpers). The real cosmetic difference between a 1985 Corniche and a Corniche II are different wheel covers (easily changed), a retractable mascot, no arm rests inside (rather than next to) the front seats, a CHMSL on US models (as 1986+ but again easily changed) and a slightly different dash that continues on to the centre console (the first classified link also has this but seems to be a modification as the dash layout is completely different from normal). These mistakes seem to go all across our collection of Corniche IIs but considering that at least some of the ones IDed as IIs have to be right and it's a lot of work to clean them I'm only going to clean the most obviously incorrect ones. I'm renaming this one a 1985 Corniche (it's US spec but with no CHMSL) but it might be an older one modernised (the upside down light units make me suspicious). -- Last edit: 2016-04-23 15:00:27 |
