Could be older car with (replaced) newer type of front wings. ![]() |

It has the older type of grill, with finer mesh, hence pre 1968. The side strip (should) identify it as a 1962-67 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Cabriolet [W 112] http://wiki.mercedes-benz-classic.com/index.php/Kategorie:W110/W111/W112 . Concerning the comment made by 130rapid: Yes, it's a possibility that the front has been replaced, and also that much else has been replaced as well. But if so, and it's always a possibility that parts have been changed if the subject isn't brand new, identifying cars at the imcdb becomes an impossibibility. We have to identify what is visible... |

The wings at the W111 are fixed with screws, so it's easy to change them. |

I'm well aware of the construction of these Mercedes as I'm currently working on a 1967 250 SE sedan and I've friend who has a 1967 250 SE/C, and on top of that I've studied a number of them in detail on meetings and on car demolition plants. I have to emphasize that on the imcdb one has to judge what is visible and cannot take into consideration if the car has been fully rebuilt. Please compare the earlier grill https://www.flickr.com/photos/clicks_1000/10501366144 with the 1968+ http://w111.se/Register_SE_W111_280.html and the lower V8 Link to "noticias.coches.com" . The above one has the W 112 side strip and the earlier grill (708 built), not entirely unlikely that one has survived compare with 220 SE Cabriolet (2.729 built), 250 SE Cabriolet (954 built), 280 SE Cabriolet (1.390 built) and finally 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet (1.232 built). Edit: Chrome inside rear view mirror usually suggests a MY previous to the introduction of the 250 SE. Hence either 220 SE or 300 SE, where I insist that the 300 SE isn't unlikely. -- Last edit: 2016-01-28 11:49:49 |
