Volkswagen T1 Hochdach (also known as "high roof panel van" outside Germany) oldtimer-veranstaltung.de/wp-content/gallery/volkswagen-t1/Volkswagen_T1_Hochdach_Lieferwagen.jpg -- Last edit: 2015-12-10 17:45:53 |

Upon further research these models were also known as VW Kastenwagen so it could be either ![]() |

By Volkswagen for these years (1963-67) it was VW Großraum-Kastenwagen |

We have 3 listed this way: /vehicles.php?make=Volkswagen&model=Gro%DFraum-Kastenwagen&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on Two later models listed this way: /vehicles.php?make=Volkswagen&model=Hochraum-Kastenwagen&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on And none with the word "Hochdach". Here are all the times that word has been mentioned: /yourcomments.php?search=Hochdach&id= I'm going to list as the first, but should the two T2 vans with that name be re-named? |

For English users, Kastenwagen is simply Van. T1 used from what's available Grossraum (yes I know the spelling is wrong), T2 started as Hochraum then back to Grossraum for 1971, but you would find Hochraum again in 1978 price list. T3 used Hochraum (in combination with Kastenwagen/Kombi) |

^^The answer would be no, not until they are proven wrong. |

"Großraum" means "big space", "Hochdach" "high roof" As I'm even unsure by myself about the correct designation even in German (the VW-systematic is indeed very irritating), I only can guess, that the construction is crucial. At the T1 the higher roof was real coachwork, at the T2 and following generations it was just a plastic shell, mounted on the open roof-frame. |
