Are you sure the 8v is anything more than a description, to differentiate from the 16v models? Widely used, isn't it, but 8v would not be a sales argument, 16v would, se page 7 (1997 brochure)

That brochure is pre facelift is it not? I can’t find any post face lifted brochures to go off with fine detail. If the 8v is not necessary I can gladly remove it from the few listed with a plate check.

Honestly I think that too, and I noticed many non-16v 1.6 doesn’t have 8v in the search. I don’t think I ever saw 8v officially specified on any car :D if not to split them from 16v..
Also 16v was on the script (until I believe the 2002 update), unlike 8v: Link to "deltastyling.com"
Yes, that’s still an F brochure anyway.

Yes I went for the older rather than newer brochure, the closest I could find, even if not the correct year or generation, to show the principle

I say leave it in - it means we know those cars are 8v. If it's removed, it creates uncertainty. Not a big issue to thump tables about, but we should always try to be as precise as possible so that when a full ID is completed, it can be fossilised for posterity.
