Registered 22/10/1985 according to http://www.nummerplade.net Frame number: JJDALW4CC438133. Doesn't say whether it's XJ6, XJ12 or Sovereign though. I know you've provided lots of views there Jale, but could we have one of the rear (the whole of the rear) so we can see the badge on the right of the numberplate? -- Last edit: 2015-08-24 14:04:11 |

Any full-on views of the rear at all? |

I'm trying to decipher the VIN. SAJJDALW4CC438133 S = Nation of Origin: England AJ = Manufacturer: Jaguar J = Marque: Jaguar D = Model: Double Six (Series III & Limousine) A = Class: Baseline L = Body variant: 4 Door Saloon (Series III & Limousine) 4 Door Saloon (XJ6) W = Engine variant: 5.3 4 = Transmission: Automatic LHS C = Model year: 1982 C = Emission system: Browns Lane, all models up to May 1987 438133 = Sequential Number http://vincode.weebly.com/jaguar-vin-decoder.html Is it a Double Six 5.3 litre V12? I was going to say it was made for DK by the extra indicators on the front fender but if the VIN is correct it would be a 1982 model that was likley imported in 1985? |

Sorry, the best view is in 6th thumbnail, if I remember correct. |

Double Six was a Daimler. Assuming it's correct this is a 5.3 V12 it should be a XJ12 or Sovereign V12/H.E. Badge style on the right side (as seen on the 6th thumb) is a long badge with a smaller one below it which would suggest something like 'Sovereign V12.' You'd have a short upper badge if it was XJ12 or something like that. Just to make matters more confusing, we've up to now believed that plaque badging was a 1986 feature. This has that (cf 7th thumbnail) but records are implying it's either a 1985 or 1982 car... As it's late 1985 it's probably 1986MY. -- Last edit: 2015-08-24 18:01:17 |

Right, these always seem to have C as a MY digit (which decodes as 1982) so it's probably wrong and the registration date (late 1985) correct. See also: /vehicle.php?id=233167 /vehicle.php?id=706526 /vehicle.php?id=713185 |
