Commentary suggest this is Austin and the first car built at Longbridge in 1906 |

Quote 1 "In the last week of April 1906 a large body of motorists travelled to Longbridge "where snow lay full three inches deep on the ground and was still falling fast" to see the new Austin car, a conventional four-cylinder model with chain drive. It was available as a 15/20 hp complete at £500 (chassis, £425) and a 25/30 hp for £650 (chassis, £550)." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Motor_Company Quote 2 "By the end of 1905 he had shown plans of his first car at the Olympia Motor Show. The first car produced in 1906 was a 25 hp Endcliffe Phaeton costing £650." - http://www.austinmemories.com/page25/page25.html with Endcliffe Phaton photo - http://www.austinmemories.com/page25/files/page25_3.jpg (which looks a lot bigger than this one??). So if commentary is accurate (which would be a nice change) - 1906 15/20 hp??? |

I don't see this as an Austin of any sort, it is likely to be a Swift 9/10hp of 1906, which may have been built at the Longbridge works. http://www.namt.com.au/namt/cars_1.html (fourth car in slide show) -- Last edit: 2015-05-30 14:37:00 |

Whatever it is it is quite small, certainly not something in the 15-20 hp range. |
