well....its not the style from the bandit, it was standard on the Trans Am. *not with all of them* |

With a shaker hood scoop yay and i hope its got the 6.6L 400ci or 403ci V8 under the hood. But the Bandit drove a 1980 Trans-Am 4.9L 301ci turbo V8 and it does not have a shaker hood scoop. |

1980. GM didn't offer a shaker in 1981, and those wheels were available on 2 models: 1980, 1979 10th Annaversary. I own a trans am. I would know. |

I remember a scene where this pushes a Crown Victoria for some distance sideways until it ends up rolling, which looked ridiculous as I have severe doubts that a lighter and smaller car like this could push a heavy vehicle like a Crown Victoria unless vital components had been removed to reduce the weight. Did anybody else see this and think the same? |

I know that. I was saying that it looks alot like the Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit II. |

actually GM did offer a shaker on 80/81 T/A's without the turbo. speaking of the bandit, here's a pretty funny movie spoof someone has put together on youtube. the hitcher and the bandit. it splices the 2 movies together making it look like burt reynolds is the bad guy driving the T/A. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OYtdQob5Xc |

well obviously owning a trans am doesnt magically give you that knowledge, because I own a 1981 trans am with a factory shaker and the "turbo rims". i have the original build sheet to prove it too. the turbo rims were offered on all the ws6 cars for 1980 and 81 as well as the 79 10th ann. you cant go to a swap meet without tripping over a set of those rims. the shaker came on all the w72 code cars, meaning all the cars with the m22 4 speed. back in 79 w72 meant the PONTIAC 400+"6X"heads+4 speed as apposed to the oldsmobile 403+automatic. in 1980 and 1981 the w72 cars were extreamly rare and came with a chevy 305 due to emissions laws. please dont act like you know something until youve really researched it, you look like an ass otherwise. |

There isn't a significant weight difference. The Trans Am would only be 300-400 pounds lighter than the Crown Vic, if even that. Furthermore, this manuever, known in police circles as the PIT manuever, uses lateral momentum against the rear of the vehicle, which is generally the lightest part. I've seen videos of Crown Vics pulling this move successfully on larger, much heavier vehicles like box vans. |

the shaker was first offered on the 70 t/a and carried over til 81.this car is an 81 trans am as 1980 was the last trans am that came with the 5 color bird and 81 t/a was the first year they used the 1 color bird(stencil look) LOOK AT THE PICS AND THE MOVIE ITS A 1 COLOR BIRD,also in 81 if you had tan interior u got the dark bown dash and 80 was the last year u could get the matching tan dash once again look at the movie and the pics.the bandit never drove a 81 trans am he drove a 77 in part 1 a 80 turbo t/a in part 2 and a 83 in part 3. |

They did offer 1981 Trans Ams with shakers. One was the carbureted 301 with an automatic, the other was the 305 carbureted Chevy small block with a four-speed manual. I owned a 1981 305/4spd Trans Am, I would know. |

In the movie it does not sound like a N/A 301. |
