Two Super 90s entered by Cooper Motor Corporation Ltd, so likely to be a dealer team - in some cases these titles disguised a works or at least semi-works entry. However Cooper Motor Corporation Ltd also entered the pair of Triumph 2.5 PIs which is a bit confusing. Audi #10 Roser/Jakl retired (but at least reached halfway point of Kampala parc ferme as photo), but #31 Salt/Fjastad finished 12th. -- Last edit: 2015-02-20 23:54:35 |

Hi DidierF, My Father John Salt and Tommy Fjastad drove a Super 90 in the 1969 East African Safari. They came 12 overall as mentioned. He did tell me it was rather underpowered and so felt it was a good result. It was a Kenyan importers entry I believe and Dad was asked to co drive with Tommy, who was much more experienced. Dad was a navigator in the RAF working in Kenya and had been co driving successfully with Joginder Singh in a few local rallies. So they got a good grid position. I think it was 11th. I have a picture of the car in the garage being prepared! and some of the practice car they used to recky. Very low budget. Sorry about the family history. -- Last edit: 2016-04-25 19:48:28 |
