I think it's a Miesse, a Belgian truck.

An other exemple: http://roadmaster.skyrock.com/3086205335-Camion-mystere.html

But according to the pics I saw on www.photosdecamions.com it appears it was branded as "Automiesse".

Indeed. "Miesse" would be the first cars built 1896-1927 in Anderlecht according to Dutch wikipedia.
A 1929 fusion makes it Automobiles Miesse et Usines Bollinckx SA, shortened in 1939 to Auto-Miesse.

We'll have a problem: Auto-Miesse or Automiesse?

The brand I saw was wihout hyphen.
And we have another mention of it, home: /vehicle_98256-Jonckheere.html

Most reputable sites seem to agree on Auto-Miesse. http://www.metavzw.be/onze-collectie/de-polder-52 (automobile heritage)

Interesting death struggle in their logo.
