I was thinking the same, I've got only some doubts due to the square shape of the front plate |

No, just sold in France through Jean Charles Automobiles in the middle of the seventies. It was the fashionable car in Paris, back in 1976. |

Why a square front plate? I recently saw one in Austria with Austrian plate, but the front one was rectangular as usual (the rear one was square, anyway) -- Last edit: 2015-01-04 20:21:35 |

It's probably an later US import (rather an french-spec Pacer sold by Jean-Charles Automobiles back in the mid seventies) due to the orange indicators. About the plate, as you may know, french ones aren't issued by the authorities, but made by your friendly car dealer, car parts store, or key cutter. And most of the time, they don't have US-sized ones, so they use what fits. |
