 I wasn't sure because Russia gets import US-spec Escapes and EU-spec Mavericks so I'm not too sure which is which.

The Euro-spec Maverick had a red fog light in place of the left reverse light. This is a US-spec Escape.

Not only in Ruassian movies, also in the normal life - because they are cheaply imported as used cars. In the far east of Russia are the most (how much? Over 90%?) running cars JDM-cars, used imports from Japan.
And the most German and European cars, you see on the thousands of Lithuanian and Latuvian trucks going eastbound, will not run there again, they will be smuggled to Russia. When I'd been in Moscow (IIRC in 2005), I was surprised about the many former "Deutsche Post"-transporters (mainly Mercedes T1 with Kögel-body, but also Ford Fiesta Courier, VW Polo and Renault Rapid), I'd spotted there. The importer sat nearby the stadium, as I saw on the bus-trip to the Lomonossov-University.

Well to be fair, the Toyota Venza is sold in Vietnam and China as well.
