Have realised this is a different - smaller? - machine from the big Ruston-Bucyrus.

Yes - I'd thought a builders number, but our other 32B has same big script as well - /vehicle_724646-Ruston-Bucyrus-32B.html

just for your info

the B doesn't stand for version like A, B, C , D etc

B stands for Bucyrus , for example MARION had their models named in same format 2 or 3 digit number and letter M

like 37 M , 47 M etc

So is there a difference between xxRB (presumably Ruston-Bucyrus) and just xxB (Bucyrus on its own??) - reference this pair of 32B and a single 52B currently as Ruston-Bucyrus????

yes RB is for Ruston Bucyrus while just B is for mother company Bucyrus-Erie

this is true for post WW2 I am not sure for pre WW2 Ruston Bucyrus is they also had just B or already RB

they are the very same thing just different badge mostly

HEre a good example

at the back it's written Ruston- Bucyrus but still has just a B in designation, so for old ones having just B doesn't mean that's a Bucyrus-Erie...

being filmed in UK I suggets all are listed as Ruston-Bucyrus unless clear marking of Bucyrus-Erie .. !!

Agree - avoid confusion with Bucyrus-Erie. But was there an earlier plain Bucyrus range using the xxB series before becoming Ruston-Bucyrus?? See this lonely /vehicle_537003-Bucyrus.html with just Bucyrus logo on arm??

that thing is an american Bucyrus only not UK origin and looks steam powered so very old !!

because Ruston bucyrus was founded in 1930 and that is surely a pre 1930 by design

here short history of Ruston-Bucyrus

BTW I would remove "unknown" model of that , with this pre WW2 things you should very lucky to get even the producer... nevermind the model
