Why remove Stanza? It says it on the back! |

It's sold as Nissan in the USA, not Datsun. |

I don't think we ever got this model in Australia... we had the Pulsar here as a compact, and Bluebird as mid-size. Where does the Stanza fit in? -- Last edit: 2014-05-09 11:47:21 |

The Stanza was in between the Sentra and Maxima. Or maybe between the Pulsar and Bluebird. |

Well, the Pulsar and Bluebird were only $2,000 apart in price. In 1984, a Pulsar cost $7500 while a Bluebird was $9500. Pulsar had a 1.5 engine and Bluebird a 2.0L engine. I'm not sure there would be room for anything in between. Above the Bluebird, we had the Skyline (2.4L at first, later 3.0L), then the 280C / 300C 6-cyl full-size. Maxima didn't arrive here until 1990 and replaced the Skyline. -- Last edit: 2014-05-13 13:08:36 |

Apparently there was room in North America. The Altima replaced the Stanza and the Sentra, Altima and Maxima have co-existed since. |

The Stanza was based on the Violet line, the Sentra on the Sunny. The Maxima was Bluebird based, but only available with a 6-cylinder in North America. The Stanza was slightly smaller and 4-cylinder. Nissan tried selling the Pulsar, but it was too similar in size to the Sentra, and the hatchbacks were discontinued after 1 year, leaving just the sport coupe. |

Why didn't Nissan sell the Skyline (R30/R31) in the US? Nor the 280C/300C (Cedric)? Both these models were sold around the world... seems odd that the US didn't get them. -- Last edit: 2014-05-14 13:58:11 |
