No Aus build Ts before 1925 |

I assume 1925 means production started for the "New Beauties" of 1926 MY? Rather deliberate date. If this is a Canadian sourced T, they had the slanted windscreen as early as 1920 (proven by contemporary parts reference book) as opposed to 1923 for US built models. -- Last edit: 2025-11-20 18:15:05 |

1922 ID was previously entered date, not mine. However had been entered as Aus build, which I've removed, as it pre-dates when Ford officially started building Ts in Aus, using Canadian supplied chassis. Apparently Canada also supplied bodies for basic versions, alongside Holden building bodies for the Deluxe versions. Build sites rapidly established throughout Australia within the first year or two, including Tasmania. Before 1925 Ts were imported in large numbers, sometimes with Ford US approval and sometimes without, through various local arrangements on a state-by-state basis rather than nationally organised. These could sometimes be short-lived, and there's no real info on where they were sourced or if always fully built on entry - seems there were fluctuating national and state tax regimes dictating who did what, where and when, so a total menagerie of versions emerged. |
