Gets hijacked at a petrol station by a really horrid gangster (played by Leslie Grantham = "Dirty" Den Watts in EastEnders). Not sure if genuine or fake, but as he drives off "petrol" pours out of the filler cap in one thumb. Also one of the thumbs for the jump has stunt driver with crash helmet. It's actually a pretty good chase - lots of fish-tailing cornering and a bit of drifting on cobbled streets with good camera work - a sort of Fast and Furious Unplugged version from the days when stunts were real instead of CGI. Despite the hump bonnet and black panel, it ain't a 3 litre GT - single exhaust and front wing badge looks like L. N plate too new for a Mk1 and comes from a 75 Mini 1000. |

I had two Capris, a Mk1 1600XL, cardinal red, black back panel, PUJ 647H, and a Daytona yellow/ black vinyl roof Mk1 1600L facelift, YDT 409M. This car could be an XL as it has the two imitation air intakes forward of the rear wheel which were absent on the L. My earlier car had the black back panel from new, I bought it when it was 1 year old for £625, and knew the vendor, who owned it from new. You could get all sorts of changes done if you paid, but those white stripes are definitely non-kosher! The yellow car was a fill-in while I waited for a new car, it cost me £70. -- Last edit: 2014-02-25 21:50:22 |

AFAIK all UK Capris had the dummy vents including L - the only exception was ultra-rare base version (and police spec, usually GT-based). German Capris similar, with the base version much more common, especially in Scandinavian markets. However they were never fitted to Aus-made Capris, even the high spec versions. |
