Mid-'49 to 1953 900 Series. The 600 Series uses the small Chevrolet-type cab - this is the GMC-only large cab, so 700, 800, or 900 Series. The additional photo of the side, showing the height of the hood side panel, indicates 900 series only. The similar 700-800 Series has a lower-mount cab with, consequently, lower hood sides. 1954-1959 large cabs had the curved corners taken out of the back of the cab and shortened by 7", giving them a flat back. The additional photo shows the '49 to '53 back profile. A small technical error with the movie: This well-drilling rig is well worn and appears to have been around a while. A scene in the movie indicates it is set in June of 1949.
