Could this be one of these? |

Looks like Lariat trim level due to pinstriping which it doesn't go all the way to the bed. Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ford-F-150.jpg |

It has the 7 lug wheels. I would say it is a 250 vs 150. Unless the 150 also received those lugs. I learned something today. I had no idea ford made these 250s in 1997-1998 before the new generation came out. |

When Ford stopped making the F-250 light duty, they made Ford F-150 7700 that has 7-lug wheels fitted in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_F-Series_tenth_generation#F-250 |

If that is the case rjluna2 then this is a 250. This movie came out in 1998. Those 2000-2003 f-150 7700s would have the same lugs then as this 1997-1998 F-250? But due to the movie date this cannot be a 2000-2003 7700 F-150. |

I don't think they had the new Ford F-250 light duty version since the previous generation Ford F-250 was still in 1997 model year production. In that case, this is the 1998 model year only. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_F-Series_ninth_generation |

Hey I went onto the Ford Forums and the members stated these rare birds were produced from 1997-1999 model years. The 1997 and older generation were not 'light duty' only 'heavy duty' was available. Then for the 1999 model year they released the new generation. Here is the link guys so you can peruse. I googled 1997-1999 f250 'light duty' and went on to the forums. These were a replacement for the 'light duty' until the new ones came out. Hence there are not a lot of them. In 1997 Ford produced both the older generation and this new one based off of the f150 skins. So in fact there are two different 1997 Ford F250s. One was the older heavy duty generation while the new skins were the light duty's that looked like the F150s. |

This has the 1997-1998 front bumper. Any reason it is listed as a 1998? |

They had this truck in 1997 & 1998 (and 1999 but it clearly had a different bumper/grille). What makes it specifically a 1998 model? Ford produced two 1997 F-250s. The light duty had this skin while the HD retained the older skin from the previous generation. -- Last edit: 2018-09-05 22:02:47 |

Yes, but that was for 1997. The F-250 was updated for 1998. -- Last edit: 2018-09-05 22:08:46 |

So I am confused. The 1997 & 1998 F-250 Light Duty differ? I thought the 1997-1998 F-250 Light Duty were exactly the same except for the exhaust position. I am just trying to educate myself and others who may read this page. Gamer can you explain what changed on the F-250 light duty trucks between the two years? Thanks! |

If you google 1997 F-250s you'll only get pictures of the old generation. Googling 1998 F-250 will give you pictures of these. I don't think there is such a thing as a "light duty" F-250, this would lead to too much confusion between models. 97 F-250: Link to "automanager.blob.core.windows.net" 98: Link to "automanager.blob.core.windows.net" Basically the F-150 was replaced for 1997, while F-250 and heavier followed the following year. -- Last edit: 2018-09-05 22:22:48 |

I am beginning to suspected that these Ford F-250 Heavy Duty series were 1997 model year only ![]() |

There is, although they were never called a light-duty, they were simply an F-250. Here's a little reading on the subject. Link to "www.curbsideclassic.com" The '97 old body F-250 received these badges to differentiate the two. ![]() For the 1998 model year, the "light duty" F-250 was the only model available, as the redesigned Super Duty trucks arrived early in calendar year 1998, but they were 1999 models. For the 2000 model year, the name was changed from F-250, to F-150 7700 (because the truck had a 7700 lbs GVWR). |

Gamer this youtube video contradicts what you said. There were two 1997 F-250s. One was the old body while the 'light duty' retained the F-150 body. Here is a video to confirm and you can call the number and ask them to check the VIN which I did and it checks out to be a 1997. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEaiNiKLhPY -- Last edit: 2018-09-06 15:54:36 |

Just to put this to bed please peruse the the brochures listed on this page: /vehicle.php?id=93295 Yes these were made 1997, 1998 & 1999 and the brochures confirm this. 1997 & 1998 are PDF while sadly the 1999 I could only pull Ebay. |
