The pictured vehicle is an Otis Electric Delivery Vehicle. This was manufactured by the Special Vehicle Division of Otis Elevator Co. (formerly West Coast Machinery, Inc.) circa 1973. It was produced in limited numbers in panel and window versions. The pictured unit is a panel version, apparently painted in US Postal Service colors. The USPS tested a number of these units beginning in June 1973 in Santa Ana, CA. Otis Elevator sold its electric vehicle operations to Electric Vehicle Associates, Inc. of Cleveland, OH in 1976, shortly after Otis merged with United Technologies Corp. -- Last edit: 2007-01-23 18:48:33 |
