What is with the weird font on the car's license plate in the main picture? -- Last edit: 2014-02-21 00:41:34 |

That font was a craze in the 80s but perfectly legal at the time. In the 90s they tightened up legal specification fairly drastically (permitted fonts, spacing, character sizes etc) to ensure good captures for by police roadside money boxes (also known as speed cameras) and later ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) systems (all sorts of devices to check for stolen or uninsured cars, box junctions, traffic light, bus lanes, congestion charge, and any other excuse they can think of). Today the spec is very restricted, with no real variation allowed. |

That's a Serck plate. They were quite common in the 1980s, and some Eighties car enthusiasts get reproductions made for that authentic touch. http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/80048 |

^^^^ Where we lead, others will follow. @antp - I'm prepared to assign my creative rights for the term Cliché Bingo to imcdb if you want to copyright it so that the royalties mean you can get rid of all those stupid adverts ... |
