The name was "Fiat red" (code 127) from the red emblem used by Fiat in the 60's. It was added in the Fiat 127 range in November 1972, just at the launch of the 126 (that was provided with such colour). As a matter of a fact the old 127 colours were deleted with the exception of White, dark blue and coral red, and therefore the range was the same for both 126 and 127. It was deleted in April 1976, when "Oxyd red" arrived. I have to say that such colour had a previous life from late 1968 on late 850 sedans, 124 sedans and wagon (untill the elimination of the car in late 1974), the 125 (for its life) and, between May 1972 (at the launch) and November 1972 on early 132. The same colour with a different name (Etna red) was available on the Autobianchi A 111 and A 112 untill the summer of 1976. I hope to have satisfied your interest. Don't esitate to ask more about other Fiat colours because I am planning to write a book about this subject. -- Last edit: 2013-11-06 16:21:44 |
