There was no R4 in the USA, the VW has no US-spec parts and the car, which crashes into the Renault, was not sold in Europe. Check out the Volkswagen without the vent I think this was filmed in Mexico I doubt it, the scenery in the other pics doesn't remind me of any particular city in Mexico (With the possible exception of Mexicali, Baja California, but even that isn't a particularly good match.), And all of the foreign cars in the other pics appear to be us-spec (BTW, there's a Mitsubishi Cordia listed, were those even sold in mexico?).

The fact, that we have a Renault 4 here, clearly excludes any US location. Plus the VW T1 and T2b and the fact, that the R4 appeared in Mexico, it confirms a Mexican location. Maybe only for this scene but Mesico without any doubt.
