Initially the 1980 Seville's had a pinstripe that followed the the fender line and made an abrupt reverse angle and followed the line of the back door into the sail panel. example Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" And only cars with the Elegante' package got the arc, but soon after production started complaints came in from customers and dealers that the pinstripe placement made the rear fender look weird. Dealers were adding the Elegante' arc trim to base Seville's to appease customers. So a running change was made very early in the model year that moved the pinstripe to the arc position of the Elegante' trim. And then with the introduction of the '81's all Seville's got the arc trim and two-tone paint was an option on base Seville's. So from 1981 on, the only exterior indication of the Elegante' package was a small Elegante' script on the sail panel near the wreath and crest.
